My name's Patrick, and I've been restoring a 1969 Volkswagen Bug for about a 9 months now. here's a snapshot,

I've been told it's a Beetle, but the title says it's a Bug. Not knowing much about the differences, I'm not sure which it is. Anywho I look forward to referencing and researching this casa. Peace from Houston, Texas.

Thanks, I am currently restoring it at the moment. In about 6 months it's going to have a complete make over.

Whats your plan?

First i am going to give it dual carbs and rag it out. Misc. replacement jobs here and there, suspension, exhaust, oil cooler. My final restoring is going to be the Porsche 911 engine, and then custom the interior/exterior.

um, what's wrong with your suspension? its too low in da front and rear is sittin too high. that rake wasnt intentionally, wasnt it?

My upper and lower ball joints are shot. I figure I'll add some air shocks, get some disk brakes in the front.

Air shocks as gas shocks or you want to bag it? And replace those ball joints asap

I want the air shocks for adjustability. The bugger rides real low, which is a pain on Houston roads.

I'm not a big fan of gas absorbers, they are too stiff :-k

Do you have any front end recommendations? I'm not married to the idea, and I do want what's best. I want a slight bounce over the bumps, if possible, over the thud! smacks!

For durability I'd go with stock absorbers and dropped spindles and/or avis adjusters.[/quote]

Thanks, I see now, that I'm not going to be able to ride as soft as I'd like.
