I've been in love with air cooled VW's for more years than I can remember now. It's one of those things where you just fall in love, and from that point on you know you have to own one, or two...

Well my name is Alain, and this is my Beetle. I've only owned her for around a month, so I don’t have much to tell you regarding this particular beetle. I bought her locally from some guys who had done the restoration and needed to get rid of her as they were short for space. I saw her, and just had to own her. I paid £2000 for it, which sometimes seems like a lot of money, but at the same time it’s worth every penny.

I've recently discovered that a new engine is going to be needed fairly soon, which isn’t exactly great news, but at the same time it means i get to give the mechanical side of her a good overhaul. Now I'm only 19, and a student at Uni, so I don’t exactly have a lot of money. I would have had more, but last summer i 'invested' a lot in a 1970 Bay, which turned out to be about as rotten as you can get, due to poor welding done by the previous owner. So after a lot of money went into that I had to sell her on, as I simply could not fund it anymore. Now I’d only be fooling myself if I said this one was perfect. But then how many Beetles are? She is damn solid, with no rot or major rust to worry about. Hopefully, with a new engine and a good mechanical clean and fix up she'll be a great, reliable car! Happy years of dubbing here we come!

Kind regards
