Generator to Alternator conversion

Have a 71/1600 Vert with a gen system, I have an alternator and all the goodies for it from a 73 SB (including wiring). Need help on the wiring to change it over. Or is it a waste of time

Its not too complicated... First off, it depends on type of the alternator that you have (Bosch has built-in voltage regulator and Motorola has an external unit)... The connections differ slightly but with a wiring diagram for a 74-75 you should be able to sort it out.

Also, don't forget other potential show-stoppers, like carb linkage / alternator clearance, fuel pump clearance, removal of oil filler neck and getting that darn fan nut off the old generator. Good luck and be careful - you could burn some stuff up if it's not right...
